Sir Andrew J. Wiles awarded with the Abel prize

Sir Andrew J. Wiles spent seven years of his life on “Fermat’s Last Theorem”, finally demonstrating one of the most intriguing problems of modern mathematics in 1993. For this reason he has been recently awarded with the Abel Prize, in Oslo.

If you are looking for a good book, check out “Fermat’s Enigma“, by Simon Singh. It’s about Wiles’ quest. It’s a great read.
