   Is it bad that I have never re blogged anything? I will happily share others posts via Twitter and Facebook but as I post quite regularly on my own blog I panic that I might bombard others with posts especially when other bloggers may already follow them.

   I reblog very rarely as well, but if the message somehow is thoroughly aligned with the theme or content of my blog, I’ll do so with a Press This. I think, however, WordPress.com visitors to my self-hosted site have had a hard time figuring out what “Press This” is for because the term does little to indicate a “recycling” or “repurposing” of the post. (Probably, Re-Press this wouldn’t be quite right either.) 😛 Again, nice meeting you! Enjoy some lovely pastries in Vienna for me!

   Thanks for clearing this one up, Luca. Early on in my blogging, I had a Press This accident. I was writing a deeply personal piece that I was hesitant to post. I accidently hit “Press This” and it was posted twice on my blog. In a panic, I deleted the original, then both disappeared. It was fate. I never wanted to discuss the topic or post it anyway. Lesson learned. ☺

   Thanks for this post, Luca. I found it when I googled ‘wordpress press this vs reblog’ because I’d like to find out if ‘press this’ would be a remedy to a couple of things that I wish ‘reblog’ wouldn’t do.

   Why does ‘reblog’ have to save pictures from the reblogged post into my media library? They use up space, I won’t ever re-use other people’s pix, and they clutter up my media library photo filing. Is there a way around this?
   When I click ‘reblog,’ it gives me a chance to add a little intro of my own to it, but as soon as I click further, it’s published. Does ‘press this’ allow one to save a draft version first?

      I’d love to also be able to add my own categories and tags instead of it just going to my default category. I manage a couple sites here and I’ll reblog the favorites to the site that is my website, so I don’t have to fill my website up with the blogs that are for various audiences (the blogs are tailored for specific audiences, whereas the website is for anyone looking for my services.) I’d like to be able to assign the category of the site I am reblogging to so folks who subscribe know which category the reblog is for. ~Shell
