Tonight I was having a drink and a chat with friends.
A few days ago an Italian actress denounced to the press how she was victim of violence, a few years ago, in relation to the recent Hollywood scandal.
It was shocking how one of the common arguments was “she probably gained some popularity from that” and “why is she complaining just now? Maybe to ride the media wave?”
Now, let me recap: violence is about the lack of consent.
It does not depend on whom, when, where, how, past experiences, lifestyle, or anything else.
Violence is about the lack of consent.
If someone has several consensual intercourses, and just one of them is without consent, it’s violence. Period. No questions about it.
There is no excuse for violence.
