These three pictures have been created stitching together 6 to 10 images.

Until a few years ago, such manipulation required skills, time, and substantial computational power. Today it’s just a function on Lightroom: “Panorama”.

If you want to explore the wonders of digital panoramas, remember to be consistent in your exposures to avoid banding, keep a good overlap over subsequent shots, start with three images and practice before trying big strips with 10 or more shots.

Many cameras offer this feature directly in their software, but my recommendation is to shoot RAW, import in Lightroom and perform the stitching during post production. Results are way better and easier to fine tune.

Don’t forget that panoramas are not just horizontal, they can be vertical too! Try it out!
